Hopkinton, Massachusetts is 17 miles from Worcester, 30 miles from Boston, Massachusetts, and has been the starting point for the Boston Marathon since 1924. Hopkinton takes great pride in this fact and enjoys hosting the many runners and guests each year. There is no direct commuter rail service into Boston from Hopkinton, but Interstate 495 and 95 are easily accessible. The Hopkinton State Park holds two swimming areas, a sailboat launch, picnic and barbecue areas, ball fields, and foot trails for hiking or cross country skiing. Lake Whitehall is one of the best fishing hotspots in town. Lake Maspenock is home to the town beach and is known locally as Sandy Island Beach.
