Since first published in 1969, Eric Carle’s The Very Hungry Caterpillar has long been a family favorite picture book the world over. Founded by Eric Carle, this museum collects, curates, preserves and celebrates picture books from around the world. With more than 10,000 picture books, on-going educational workshops, and hands-on kid activities, the Eric Calre Museum is a great indoor winter activity for all ages.
The Eric Carle Museum is a stunning, 40,000 square-foot facility in the heart of the Five College area of Western MA. Loved by families, art aficionados, and book-lovers alike, the Museum houses three galleries with rotating exhibitions of picture book art from around the world and a permanent collection with works by Maurice Sendak, Leo Lionni, Arthur Rackham, Ludwig Bemelmans and more.
