Acton Mass. Town Travel Business Information
Acton, Massachusetts is a suburban community with five village centers. Center Acton is the civil center of town holding: the public library, post office, police station and fire station.
Center Acton still has the small town feel with a mostly residential main street. West Acton became the commercial part of town due to the Fitchburg railroad in the 19th century and now business is still driven there due to Route 111. South Acton includes the Fort Pond Brook, which was used to power mills in the eighteenth century. Today Jones Tavern is a still-standing revolutionary-era building that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
East and North Acton are both mainly residential areas while North Acton is also home to North Acton Recreation Area. The North Acton Recreation Area includes a swimming pond, an open air auditorium, recreational fields and hiking trails.
