The community of Bridgewater, Massachusetts is located halfway between Boston and Providence, Rhode Island. The Taunton River flows through most of Bridgewater, as well as many other smaller brooks and rivers branching off Taunton as well.
Nippenicket Lake is the biggest body of water located within the town limits of Bridgewater. The western part of Bridgewater includes the Hockomock Swamp Wildlife Management Area, which is in conservation, along with a town forest and a state forest.
Bridgewater is also home to Bridgewater State College, a public liberal arts college founded in 1840 and one of the largest colleges outside the University of Massachusetts System.
