Canton, Massachusetts is part of the Greater Boston area and is only fifteen miles from the center of downtown Boston. Elijah Morse, the creator of the pot-belly stove, was born and raised in Canton. He went on to create the Rising Sun Stove Polish Company, which was also located in Canton. The nation’s first Copper Rolling Mill was built in Canton, Mass by Paul Revere.
The Massachusetts Audubon Society’s Visual Arts Center, in Canton, is home to the Mildred Morse Allen Wildlife Sanctuary. In addition to wildlife, there is also a vast amount of art in their gallery. It is an amazing place to view nature, especially during the spring when the flowers are in bloom.
