Due to its significant role in the country’s industrial revolution, Methuen, Massachusetts has earned its place on the National Register of Historic Places. Spicket River and Spicket Falls were prime locations for water-powered mills. These mills produced many different items; hats, shoes, and textiles. The “Searles Tenney Nevins Historic District” was established by the city of Methuen in 1992 to preserve the distinctive architecture and rich character of one of Massachusetts’ most unique neighborhoods.
