Because of its proximity to major highways Middleton, Massachusetts makes an excellent commuter town. A balance of residential and commercial, Middleton is a well rounded community. Located along the Ipswich River, Middleton started out as a farming community. As the years passed, a large ironworks industry grew and stayed for many years. Two well known Boston Red Sox players, Coco Crisp and David Ortiz, made Middleton their home at one point in their lives.
