Onset, MA Business Vacations Real Estate History
The Southern Massachusetts village of Onset is part of the larger community of Wareham. Onset did not originally start out as a village, but rather as an 1800’s summer camp for Spiritualists – people who contacted the dead through the use of mediums. By the mid-1800’s, Onset was a thriving tourism destination for Bostonians and offered such activities as trolley cars, theaters, restaurants, hotels, cottages, a casino, and a bathing Pavillion.
Throughout its history, Onset Village has been known as Pine Neck, Old Pine, Onkowam, and Pine Point.
