Roughly ten miles from Boston, Saugus, Massachusetts is composed of eight neighborhoods; Saugus Center, East Saugus, Cliftondale, Lynnhurst, North Saugus, the Golden Hills, Oaklandvale, and Kenwood. Saugus is a blend of the historical and the modern with many landmarks, including the 100+-year-old George’s Barber Shop, believed to be the oldest barbershop in the United States. In 1975, the first commercially successful incineration plant in the United States was built by Wheelabrator Technologies and is still in operation in Saugus today.
